Governor Refuses to Sign Proposed Manager Licensing Law

New Jersey’s Assembly and Senate passed the manager licensing bill supported by the Community Associations Institute of New Jersey.  However, the Governor refused to sign it.  In his January 21, 2014 message on the proposed legislation Governor Christie stated: “While I support the goal of ensuring suitable managers to operate community associations throughout New Jersey, I am concerned that the bill imposes an unwarranted financial burden on the State.”  Unfortunately it appears that Governor Christie did not fully appreciate the off-setting revenue that the proposed legislation will generate.
